-1.6 - 4/2 = - 3.6
x - 4/2; where x = - 1.6
Substitute x by its value.
-1.6 - 4/2 * as you notice, one number is in decimal and the other is in fraction form. We need to convert one form to the other to make the numbers like numbers so that solving the equation will be easier and less confusing.
4/2 can easily be converted into decimal by dividing 4 by 2 which equals to 2.
So, - 1.6 - 2 = ? The operation is a subtraction, but the other number is in negative form, if both numbers have the same sign, we add them up and the sign is carried over to the sum.
-1.6 - 2 = - 3.6 * we add 1.6 + 2 = 3.6, then we carry over its negative sign = - 3.6
