If the model is 1 1/2 inches tall and the actual statue is 5 1/4 feet tall, it means that the initial ratio is 1 1/2 : 5 1/4. To simplify it, firstly we need to find a common denominator, which will be 1 2/4 in this case, and then rewrite it as a ratio of mixed numbers:

    1 2/4 : 5 1/4

    6/4 : 21/4

Now we can see that we can use one third of both sides to simplify the ratio:

    2/4 : 7/4

We can further simplify it into:

    1/2 : 7/4

    Which is:

    1/2 : 1 3/4
