so

y = 1 + 2

Let (y = x+2) be y

x+2 = 4 - x

x + x = 4 - 2

2x = 2

Therefore x = 1

Lets now find y;

y = x+2

lets replace x with 1 (x=1)

y = 1+2

y = 3

The answer therefore is y=3 and x = 1
