(x^m) ^n=x^ (mn)
(x^m) (x^n) = x^ (m+n)
make base same
9=3^2
(3^2) ^1/3=3^ (2/3)
3^1/3 times 3^2/3=3^ (1/3+2/3) = 3^1=3
