A department store sold 34 shirts one day. All short-sleeved shirts cost $11.00 each and all long-sleeved shirts cost $21.00 each. Total receipts for the day were $514.00. How many of each kind of shirt were sold?

    11s + 21l = 514

    -11s - 11l = - 374

    11s + 21l = 514

    10l = 140

    l = 20 long sleeve shirts

    s + 20 = 34

    s = 14 short sleet shirts
