A cookie has an unknown number of chocolate chips that are evenly distributed

throughout. The cookie is broken into four equal pieces, and the number of

chocolate chips in one piece is examined. During the examination, three chocolate

chips are eaten from this one piece. As a result, the number of chips remaining in this

one piece is found to be 7. How many chocolate chips were in the entire cookie?

Translate this into an equation, using x to represent the amount of chocolate chips in

the whole cookie.
