Your school will use one school bus and as many cars as needed to drive students to a field trip. Last year, a bus and 5 cars were used to drive 56 students. Each car held 4 students. This situation can be modeled using the equation: Students - 56 = 4 (Cars - 5). Which equation correctly shows the rate of students per car and the number of students on the bus?

    Say cars=x, total students=y and number of students on the buses=z

    z = y - (4x)

    the model equation makes no sense when you think about it, but try my equation and see if it works
