Five classmates came to Dan's birthday party. This is half as many as the number of his summer camp friends who came and one third of the number of his relatives that came. How many people were at Dan's birthday party?

    21 if you count dan himself. But this is not the right answer either and neither is 20

    20 people. Because 5 already came to the party. 1/3 of his relatives came is 5, so multiply 5 by 3, then add 5. You get 20 people.
