Colleen divided integer a by - 3 and got 8 then she divided 8 by integer b and got - 4 find the quotient of integer a and integer b

    What Colleen did first: a / - 3 = 8

    Multiply each side by - 3 : a = - 24 < = now we know integer 'a'

    What she did next: 8 / b = - 4

    Multiply each side by 'b' : 8 = - 4 b

    Divide each side by - 4 : - 2 = b < = = now we know integer 'b'

    The quotient a / b = - 24 / - 2 = 12
