y = - 6x - 23
the equation of a line in ' slope - intercept form ' is
y = mx + c (m is the slope and c the y - intercept)
here m = - 6
the partial equation is y = - 6x + c
to find c, substitute ( - 4, 1) into the partial equation
1 = 24 + c ⇒ c = 1 - 24 = - 23
y = - 6x - 23 ← equation in slope - intercept form
