A motorist is pumping gas into his car at a rate of 5/12 of a gallon every 1/24 of a minute. At this rate, how many gallons of gas will he have pumped into his car in 1.5 of a minute?

    At this rate, the motorist would have pumped 15 gallons into his car.

    In order to find this, we first have to find the amount of gallons per minute. To do this, we divide the number of gallons given to the number of minutes given.

    5/12 gallons / 1/24 minutes = 10 gallons per minute.

    Now we multiply that amount by the amount of minutes pumping gas.

    10 gallons per minute * 1.5 minutes = 15 gallons.
