    y is 1 more than 2 times the smaler

    y=1+2 times x

    y=1+2x

    3 times y is bigger than 5 times x by 10

    3y=5x+10

    subsitute

    y=1+2x

    3 (1+2x) = 5x+10

    3+6x=5x+10

    subtract 3 from both sides

    6x=5x+7

    subtract 5x from both sides

    x=7

    subsitute

    y=1+2x

    y=1+2 (7)

    y=1+14

    y=15

    x=7

    y=15
