    f = female workers, m = male workers

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the number of female workers be f

    and, let the number of male workers be m

    we are given that 1. f = 3 2/3 m or, f = 11/3 m

    and 2. f = m + 16

    Since the left hand side of the equations (f) are the same, we can write

    11/3 m = m + 16

    multiply both sides by 3/11

    11/3 * 3/11 m = 3/11 (m + 16)

    or, m = 3/11 (m + 16)

    Multiplying both sides by 11, we get

    11m = 3 (m + 16)

    11m = 3m + 48

    subtract 3m from both sides

    8 m = 48

    m = 6

    Substituting the value of m in eqn 2 above

    f = 6 + 16 = 22

    Therefore, number of men = 6, number of women = 22 (Answer)
