Frank and Maxine are comparing the class number of boys and girls in the class. Frank says there are 12 boys out of 24 students. Maxine says there is 1 boy for every 2 students. Are the two responses the same? Explain how you know.

    They are the same because 1 is half of 2, and 12 is half of 24

    They are the same and 12:24 can be simplified to 1:2 so they both mean half
