The perimeter of a rectangle is 24cm. If the length in y cm, what is the width?

    Perimiter=2 times (length+width)

    if perimiter=24

    24=2 (L+W)

    divide both sides by 2

    12=L+W

    if L=y then

    12=y+W

    minus y from both sides

    12-y=W

    the width is 12-y cm
