A friend gave Ms. Morris a $50 gift card for a local car wash. If each car wash costs $6, which equation shows the number of dollars left on the card? Let y be the value left on the card and x be the number of car washes used.

    50-6x=y

    since each car wash is 6 dollars and you do not know the number of cars washed it is 6x

    50-6x is because you need to find out how much is left in the card so you subtract the total from how much she spent
