Simplify brackets
8 = 8a + 2
Subtract 2 from both sides
8 - 2 = 8a
Simplify 8 - 2 tp 6
6 = 8a
Divide both sides by 8
6/8 = a
Simplify 6/8 to 3/4
3/4 = a
Switch sides
a = 3/4
