Simplify (8x2 - 1 + 2x3) - (7x3 - 3x2 + 1). I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

    Did you distribute the negative 1 across the second term?

    8x^2-1+2x^3-7x^3+3x^2-1

    The answer should be - 5x^3 + 11x^2
