Heather wants to purchase a pet from her local pet store. The pet store is offering 50% off rare exotic parrots. The original purchase price of a parrot is $956.50. Heather has a coupon for 10% off her entire purchase. How much will she pay if she also purchases a birdcage for $47.05?

    First, you find how much it is for 50% this is how you find it 50 / 100 =

    x / $956.50 I use a trick, you multiply the percent (50%) with $956.50 so you get $47825 and you divide it by 100% and you get $478.25 which is the amount for parrots only. then you add the cost of the birdcage with the bird cost. Then you use the same trick to find the total amount with the coupon you can use the same trick I used and will get $52.53.
