How much carbon dioxide will you prevent from entering the atmosphere in one year, if you replace a 100-watt light bulb with a CFL bulb that uses 30 watts in a fixture that you have on 8 hours per day?

    It depends whether your electricity comes from coal, nuclear, hydroelectric or some other source. Coal produces carbon dioxide, nuclear and hydro don't.
