Jovan needs to buy a package of ham for $5, a package of cheese for $3, and a loaf of bread for $4 to make lunch. Jovan has a coupon that gives him x percent off on a package of cheese. He has a second coupon that gives him y percent off on a loaf of bread. He has a third coupon that gives him z percent off on his total purchase. Jovan cannot combine the coupon for the total purchase with the other two coupons. These expressions give both possibilities for the total cost of Jovan's purchase after the coupons are applied. The variables represent percentages as decimals. (1-x) 3 + (1-y) 4+5 (1-z) (3+4+5) Which part of the expression represents the price of the ham, the cheese, and the bread before the total discount is applied? 3 + 4 + 5 (1-x) (1-z) 4 (1-y)
