What is the weight of a rock that has a mass of 5 kilograms

    9.8 x 5.0 = 49 newtons

    weight = Mass x Gravity

    Mass = 5.0 kg

    Gravity (on earth) = 9.8 newtons/kg (force of gravity downward)
