A garden has a total of 60 vegetable plants, consisting of carrots, onions, cabbages and lettuce. all but 24 plants are carrots; all but half of the remaining are lettuce; only two plants are onions. how many more carrots are there than cabbages?

a) 14

    60-24 equals 36 carrots 24/2 equals 12 lettuce 12-2 equals 10 cabbages 36-10 equals 26 more carrots than cabbages so option D) 26 is correct.
