    We'll assume that a is the dependent variable, dependent on b,

    and that b is the independent variable.

    Solving for a, add 7 to both sides:

    a = g (b) = 7 + 3 (b+2), or

    g (b) = 7 + 3b + 6, or

    g (b) = 3b + 13
