When this 3 digit number is rounded to the nearest hundred it rounds to 900. The digit in the ones is the fifth odd number you count beginning with one. The sum of the digits is 22. What is the number?

    The first digit is 9 or 8.

    The fifth odd number you count beginning with one is 9.

    Let the middle number be x.

    If the first number is 8, then 8 + x + 9 = 22 = > 17 + x = 22 = > x = 22 - 17 = 5. then the number is 859 which approximates to 900 to to the nearest hundred.

    If the number is 9, then 9 + x + 9 = 22 = > 18 + x = 22 = > x = 22 - 18 = 4, then the number is 949, which also approximates to 900 to the nearest hundred.

    Therefore, the required number is 859 or 949.
