    The first thing we are going to assume is that we have the perimeter of the lid, which is given by:

    P = 5 cm

    We will also assume that the box is square, then the lid is also square.

    Therefore the perimeter is given by:

    P = 4L

    Where,

    L: side

    We cleared L:

    L = P / 4

    Substituting:

    L = 5/4 cm

    L = 1.25 cm

    Answer:

    the length of the lid is:

    L = 1.25 cm
