Ariana has a large piece of fabric that she wants to use to make some scarves. The number N of scarves she can make is inversely proportional to the area a of each scarf. If the area of each scarf is 3 ft.² then she can make 15 scarves if the area of each scarf is 5 ft.² how many scarves can she make?

    Answer: The number of scarves Ariana would have made nine scarves

    Step-by-step explanation: Let the area of the scarf be S

    Let the area of the fabric be F

    we know that N is inversely proportional to S

    directly proportional to F

    therefore N = F/S

    15 = F/3

    15 * 3 = F

    F = 45 square feet

    the number scarves made with area of each scarf being 5 square feet

    N = 45/5

    N = 9 scarves
