The length of a rectangle is 3 inches more than its width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 34 inches

    Perimeter p means adding up the four sides of a rectangle.

    Step 2. Let w equal the width.

    Step 3. Let w+3 equal the length.

    Step 4. Then you'll have this really confusing equation: P=w+w+w+3+w+3=4w+6=30

    And it will give you w = 6
