    2 (3x - 1) + 4 (2y + 3)

    Set up

    6x - 2 + 8y + 12

    Apply the Distributive Property

    6x + 8y + 10

    Combine like terms

    2 (3x + 4y + 5)

This step is optional, but you can factor out a 2 from all terms

    Our answer is 6x + 8y + 10, or 2 (3x + 4y + 5). (They are equal)
