    The formula in order to obtain the Surface Area is given as Surface Area = 1/2 (pl) + B where p is the perimeter of the base, l is the slant height, B is the area of the BaseAs given in the problem, the length of the base is a square having a size 9 in and a slant height equals to 12 in.

    using the formula, we compute for the Surface Area to be:

    The perimeter of the base is 4s since it is a square.

    p=4 (9) = 32 in

    The area of the base is s2.

    B = (9in) ^2=81 in^2

    S. A = 1/2 (pl) + B

    S. A = 1/2 (32) (12) + 81 = 273 in^2

    Hence, the total surface area of the pyramid is 273 in^2
