Oliver's room is 3 yards wide. The perimeter of the room is 14 yards.

What is the area of Oliver's room?

    Well, the 3 is already included in the perimeter so you would do 14 - 3 = 11. Then you divide the 11 by 3 and get 3.66667, So the perimeter is 3, 3, 4, 4. Then you multiply 3 and 4 and get the area of 12.
