Brian has reduced his cholesterol level by 17% by following a strict diet and regular exercise. If his original level was 220, what is his approximate cholesterol level now?

    If he has reduced his cholesterol level by 17%, then that means 83% of the original cholesterol level is still there. 83% is. 83 as a decimal, and in order to find the percentage of a number, you have to multiply the decimal and number together.

    .83 x 220 = 182.6

    So if rounded, Brian's cholesterol level is now 183
