Ask Question

Jeanette and Kyle each want to run for president of their school's student body council. In order to do so, they must collect a certain number of signatures and get a nomination. So far, Jeanette has 21 signatures, and Kyle has 20. Jeanette is collecting signatures at an average rate of 2 per day, whereas Kyle is averaging 3 signatures every day. Assuming that their rate of collection stays the same, eventually the two will have collected the same number of signatures. How many signatures will they both have? How long will that take?

    23 signatures after 1 day

    Step-by-step explanation:

Kyle is 1 signature behind, but collects 1 more signature per day. He will catch up in 1 day.

After 1 day, both will have 23 signatures:

    21 + 2 = 23

    20 + 3 = 23
