The difference between seven times a number and eight more than four times the number

    Seven times a number = 7x

    Eight more than four times the number = 8 + 4x

    .

    Suppose x = 5,

    7x = 7*5 = 35 and

    8 + 4x = 8 + 4*5 = 8 + 20 = 28
