What is the surface area of the square pyramid represented by the net? An unfolded square base pyramid with sides of the base being seven centimeters and the length from the base to the tip is nine centimeters.

    Surface area of the square pyramid = area of the base + area of 4 triangles

    So, in order to find the total surface area, first calculate the area of base then area of triangle

    Area of the base can be calculated by s²

    and s = 7cm

    ∴Area of the base = 7 x 7 = 49 cm²

    As, Area of Δ = 1/2 b x h

    Area of the 4 triangles = 4 x [ 1/2 x 7 x 9] (since there are 4 triangles)

    Area of the 4 triangles = 4 x 31.5

    Area of the 4 triangles = 126 cm²

    Therefore, the surface area = Area of the base + Area of the 4 triangles

    Total Surface Area = 49 + 126 = 175 cm²
