How do you know if fractions are equal?

If a=b then a/b=1

so we just divide them

or we can simplify them

example

are a/b and c/d equal? if (a/b) / (c/d) = 1, then they are equal aka if (ad) / (bc) = 1 or if ad=bc

so to find if a/b=c/d, if ad=bc, then they are equal
