The length of a rectangle is 16 inches longer than its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is is 540 inches, what is the length in inches

    W=width, W+16=length

    2w + 2 (w+16) = 540in

    2w + 2w + 32 = 540in

    Subtract 32 from both sides

    Combine like with like

    4w = 508in

    Divide by 4 on both sides

    W=127in.
