    To rename mixed numbers to a fraction greater than one, you need to turn it into an improper fraction. For example: 3 1/3 = 10/3. To get this, multiply the denominator, (3) by the whole number, (3), you get 9. Then add that number, (9), to the numerator, (1) and you will get 10/3
