A family drove 1/5 of the total distance to the coast on the first day. They drove another 1/4 of the distance on the second day. How much of the total distance had the family traveled on the two days? How much further do they have to drive to reach their distanation?

    Convert both 1/5 and 1/4 to 20ths to get 4/20 and 5/20. From there just add the two together getting 9/20 of the trip done and 11/20 to go. Hope this answers your questions.
