How do I solve this algebra question

    -2 (3z+1) - 10=4

    -2 (3z+1) = 14

    -6z-2=14

    -6z=16

    16/-6 = -.375

    First way (no distribution)

    -2 (3z + 1) - 10 = 4

    -2 (3z + 1) = 14

    3z + 1 = - 7

    3z = - 8

    z = - 8/3

    Second way (with distribution)

    -2 (3z) - 2 (1) - 10 = 4

    -6z - 2 - 10 = 4

    -6z = 16

    z = 16/-6 = - 8/3

    z = 26/-6
