The sample space for flipping a coin three times is given. Let H represent Heads and T represent Tails

(H, H, H) (H, T, T)

(H, H, T) (T, H, T)

(H, T, H) (T, T, H)

(T, H, H) (T, T, T)

Find The probabilities of the following events using the Above sample space

A. 2 heads, 1 tail

B. 3 heads

C. 2 Tails, 1 Head

D. 3 tails

    Here's the answer:

    A. There are 3 favorable outcome for 2 heads, 1 tail (3/8 or 0.375 probability) B. There is 1 favorable outcome for 3 heads (1/8 or 0.125 probability) C. There are 3 favorable outcome for 2 tails, 1 head (3/8 or 0.375 probability) D. There is 1 favorable outcome for 3 tails (1/8 or 0.125 probability) E. Sum of probabilities = A+B+C+D

    Sum of probabilities = 0.375 + 0.125 + 0.375 + 0.125Sum of probabilities = 1

A and C are the same, they both have 3/8 probability. As well as B and D, both have 1/8 probability.
