9 - 8x + x + 2, Can u solve this?

    So Im pretty sure since you have to regular number you combine them first so then it would be 9-2+8x+x then your gonna have 7+8x + 1 because the x is just another letter turn it into a 1combine again 7+1+8x that comes down to 8+8x and I think we both know what 8+8x equals. your answer is 16x
