    Let us assume the width of the rectangular sports field = x meters

    Then

    The length of the rectangular sports field is = 3x

    Perimeter of the rectangular sports field = 880 meters

    Then

    Perimeter of the rectangular field = 2 (Length + Width)

    880 = 2 (x + 3x)

    880 = 2 * 4x

    880 = 8x

    x = 880/8

    = 110 meters

    So

    Width of the rectangular field = 110 meters

    Length of the rectangular field = 3x

    = 3 * 110 meters

    = 330 meters

    Now

    Area of the rectangular field = Length * Width

    = 110 * 330 square meters

    = 36300 square meters.

    So the area of the rectangular field comes out to be equal to 36300 square meters.
