The hypotenuse of a triangle with sides of 12 and 5 units

    A^2 + B^2 = C^2

    So ...

    5^2 + 12^2 = C^2

    5x5 = 25

    12x12 = 144

    25 + 144 = C^2

    C^2 = 169

    Then you square root 169 and the hypotenuse is 13
