    Volume of sand = Volume of sand in the cylindrical pi

    1/3 πr^2h = πr^2h

    1/3 x 3.14 x 3^2 x 6 = 3.14 x 6^2 x h

    6h = 3

    h = 3/6 = 1/2 ft

    The height of the sand in the pit is 0.5 ft.
