in 2003 the population of zimbawe was about 12.6 million people wich is 1 million more than 4 times the population in1950. write and solve an equation to find the approximate populating p of the Zimbabwe in 1950

    12.6 million = 4p + 1 million

    to solve:

    12.6 million - 1 million = 4p + 1 million - 1 million

    11.6 million/4 = 4p/4

    2.9 million = p

    the population in 1950 was approximately 2.6 million
