The length of a rectangle is 5 more than twice the width. the perimeter is 130 inches. what is te area

    The length of a rectangle:

    L = 2 W + 5

    The perimeter:

    P = 2 L + 2 W

    130 = 2 · (2 W + 5) + 2 W

    130 = 4 W + 10 + 2 W

    130 - 10 = 6 W

    120 = 6 W

    W = 120 : 6

    W = 20 in

    L = 2 · 20 + 5

    L = 40 + 5

    L = 45 in.

    Finally the area:

    A = L · W

    A = 20 · 45

    A = 900 in²
