    You can solve it by substitution or elimination.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    -2x+4y=-8

    x-2y=1

    Im gonna use substitution because it seems easier with the numbers given.

    To do so you have to solve for a variable i solved for x in the second equation.

    x-2y=1

    +2y + 2y

    x=2y+1

    You have to plug this into the x in the other equation.

    -2 (2y+1) = -8

    Simplify the equation by using the distributive property.

    -4y-2=-8

    isolate the variable:

    +2 + 2

    -4y=-6

    isolate the variable by using division.

    y=-6/-4

    y=3/2

    Plug this into the y of one of the equations and solve for the x.
