Michael has $1,028.11 in his checking account. He is going to spend $473.45 on a new television, and he will spend the rest on speakers that cost $40.00 each.     1028.11 - 473.45 = 554.66

    554.66 divide by 40 equal 13

    which 40 times 13 = 520

    which which left 34.66 dollars left
