The width of rectangle is 7 less than twice the length. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 43.6 inches, what is the area of the rectangle?

    therefore,

    43.6 = 2 (x + 2x - 7)

    21.8 + 14 = 6x

    6x = 35.8

    x = 35.8/6

    x = 5.97 inches

    Length = 5.97 inches

    width = 2*5.97-7 = 11.94 - 7 = 4. 94 inches
